Valerie Schroeder Kershaw Domestic Relations, Family Law

Valerie Kershaw attended Sullins College in Virginia prior to receiving her B.S. from the University of Kentucky where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa and with High Distinction. Ms. Kershaw graduated cum laude from the University of Louisville College of Law and was the recipient of the Samuel Greenebaum Public Service Award.

Ms. Kershaw is the senior partner of Kershaw & Baumgardner, LLP, which was originally founded in 2003. Ms. Kershaw is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), a member of the American Bar Association, the Kentucky Bar Association, she has served as the president of the Kentucky Chapter of the AAML and has acted as the Chair of Family Law Section of the Fayette County Bar Association. She has won numerous awards for outstanding legal performance throughout her career.


VALERIE
She is trained as a Family Mediator by the Kentucky Administrative Office of the Court and trained as an Arbitrator by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. She is a frequent lecturer on various topics of Family Law at educational programs for lawyers and other professionals.

Ms. Kershaw is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, the Eastern and Western District of Kentucky and the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Suzanne Baumgardner Domestic Relations, Family Law

SUZANNE
Suzanne Baumgardner attended the University of Iowa
where she received a Bachelor of Business Administration in
Accounting in 1992. Suzanne received her Juris Doctorate,
with Distinction, in 1995 from the University of Iowa College
of Law.

Suzanne worked in the accounting industry and moved
to Kentucky in 1995. In 1996 she began her legal career with
the Davidson Law firm in Lexington, Kentucky. Since that
time, she has practiced almost exclusively in the area of
domestic relations with a focused interest in complex financial cases. Suzanne joined the firm in 2004 and became a partner in the firm in 2006. 

Suzanne is trained in Collaborative Law, an alternate form of dispute resolution. Suzanne has been a speaker at

continuing education seminars and has co-authored two chapters, Contested Divorce (Chapter 5) and Separation

Agreement (Chapter 6) in the First Edition of Kentucky Domestic Relations Practice published by the University of

Kentucky Office of Continuing Legal Education (2006).


In 2007, Suzanne was admitted as a fellow to the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Suzanne is a member of the Iowa Bar Association, the Kentucky Bar Association, and the Fayette County Bar Association. Suzanne is also a member of the Family Law Sections of both  the KBA and FCBA, having served as past chair of the Family Law Section of the Fayette County Bar Association. She is admitted to practice before all state Courts of Iowa, Kentucky and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.


Suzanne is married to Jeff Baumgardner, who works for the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government. They

are the proud parents of a daughter, Rachel. They make their home in Lexington with their lovable dog, Buster.

Kami Brumley Domestic Relations, Family Law

Kami C. Brumley attended Mercer University in Macon, Georgia where she graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 2005. While at Mercer University, Kami was a Jesse Mercer Scholar and a Tift Scholar. She also studied at Oxford University in England and travelled through Europe. Kami graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 2008 and joined the firm that same year. Kami became a partner of the firm in 2015.

In 2020, Kami was admitted as a fellow to the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Kami is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association and the Fayette County Bar Association. Kami is also a member of the Family Law Sections of both the KBA and FCBA. Kami served as the Co-Chair of the Family Law Section of the FCBA.

KAMI
Kami resides in Lexington and is extremely involved in the community, especially with the Distinguished Young Women program of Woodford County and Kentucky. Kami has judged numerous Distinguished Young Women programs throughout the state.
